Equipping/Training
Ministry
1) Who
is Belmont Team Training (BTT) for?
Our
desire as pastors is for every cell member to walk through
BTT.
2) Why should every cell member walk through BTT?
Because whether we are new believers, or veterans of the
faith, every believer has cracks in their discipleship foundations.
BTT provides the opportunity for each person to strengthen
weak spots in their foundations, allows them to get
on the same page with each other, and equips every member
to actively pursue their God-given
destiny. Going through BTT also enables each
member to more effectively serve as a discipler/mentor to
others.
3) What is the Biblical basis for BTT?
Ephesians 4:12, 13 states that spiritual leaders are "to
prepare God's people for works of service, so that the Body
of Christ will be built up until we all reach unity in the
faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature,
attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
4) Where do you find the pattern used in BTT of Members, Maturing,
Mobilizing and Multiplying?
This pattern is found in the book of Matthew. First, Jesus
calls people to follow Him in Mt.4:18-22 - or in other words,
to become members of His team. Then, in chapters five through
nine, via teaching and experiences, Jesus begins maturing
His disciples in the ways of the Kingdom of God. In chapter
ten, Jesus is seen mobilizing them into service. Finally,
in 28:18-20, Jesus commands them, in the Great Commission,
to actively be involved in making disciples, or multiplying
their lives into others.
5) How long does it usually take to complete?
Anywhere from 9-12 months.
6) What if I can't make it down to the campus on Wednesday
evenings?
No problem. BTT is designed so that you can go through
the majority of it on audio
cassettes or CD's either at home or in your
car. Outlines are also provided so that you don't have to
worry about driving off the road while trying to take notes!
Some of the courses are held in a weekend format.
7) Where can I get a copy of the audio tapes?
You can get them on loan from the Resource Center for
up to twelve weeks, or you can purchase sets through Belmont
Media Services' Tape Department.
8) How do I get a copy of the BTT Notebook and outlines?
Once you join a cell at Belmont, your cell leader will
provide you with a BTT Notebook. You get your outlines when
you attend one of the BTT courses, or when you pick up an
audio set in the Resource Center on campus.
9) When I get to Ministry Team Training in the Mobilizing
Track, what options do I have?
The idea of Ministry Team Training is to provide people
with 12 weeks of apprenticeship
in an area of ministry for the purpose of gaining some ministry
skills. Usually, someone will have the opportunity of choosing
between a dozen or so options each semester. This may or may
not include (varies with semesters): missions, cell leadership,
helps/hospitality, ministry to the poor, worship, youth, children,
etc.
Also,
if a person has actively been involved in training or ministry
for some time, they can submit that to the equipping office
as a consideration for the purpose of waiving their 12 weeks
of Ministry Team Training. If approved, they would just need
to attend the Ministry Team Weekend orientation and complete
the OT Survey to complete the Mobilizing Track. This would
enable them to fast-track into the Multiplying Track.
10) What's next after I complete BTT?
You
are free to jump into the Growth Tracks - specific courses
geared with a mentoring edge to them in topics ranging from
inductive Bible study to Church History to moving in the prophetic
to managing personal finances to family life. Each semester
will be different, so click on the Equipping Schedule to find
out what is currently available.
