FAQ's

What kind of church is Belmont?

Belmont is church that attempts to hold in balance the best of what God has done in the church down through history, and the best of what the Spirit is doing in the church today.

Is Belmont a Church of Christ, as it reads on the stone work above the chapel?
Yes and no! Belmont Church was birthed some 95 years ago as Belmont Avenue Church of Christ. Our historic roots are with the Church of Christ. In the 70’s, Belmont’s embracing of the Spiritual Renewal Movement that swept across denominational lines, resulted in Belmont changing it’s name to Belmont Church. For more information on what we believe, go to our Affirmation of Faith.

So your pastor is from a Church of Christ background?
You mean our pastors! No. Actually the 18 staff pastors are from a diverse cross-section of denominations. We have pastors with Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, Assembly of God, Episcopalian, and Charismatic backgrounds. And, yes, two of the 18 pastors are from a Church of Christ background. For more information about our staff pastors, click here.

What time are Belmont’s services?
Belmont Church has three services: Saturday 6:00 PM-8:00 PM; Sunday 8:30 AM-10:30 AM; 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. For directions to Belmont Church, click here.

How do I learn more about Belmont Church when I visit one of your services?
You can learn more about Belmont by visiting our Welcome Desk in the foyer of your Worship Center. Our greeter will be happy to answer any specific questions about ‘when to go where’, and other queries you may have. We have a brochure that introduces you to the staff pastors. We will give you a complementary Welcome to Belmont Church video that provides a quick overview of where we’ve come from and where we’re going. At the end of that video, we recommend a number of other excellent churches in our city.

Do you have Sunday School and adult classes?
Yes and no! We have Sunday School up through high school. We also have childcare for infants. For more information on Sunday School and our programs for children, click here. Our adult classes occur on Wednesday evenings during our two terms of Belmont Team Training (see below).
