Who
can participate in one of the Isaiah 58 outreaches?
Only the rich! Just kidding. Anyone can join in an outreach.
In fact, Belmont encourages families to get involved
Is
it okay for children to go on an outreach?
Absolutely! Children, in many instances, are able to bring
joy and hope to a homeless person in a way that adults cannot.
Children are great to have on outreaches because they help
open doors and hearts.
What
do you do on an outreach?
Well, that depends on what outreach you go on. If you join
the Isaiah 58 bus on a mobile outreach, you will help prepare
and serve food. But that's not all. You will be there to teach
kids, pray with people, and simply be a friend and listening
ear.
Is
food the only thing you give away?
Yes and no. Sometimes we have clothes we can distribute. We
provide job counseling. We offer first aid if a person has
a need.
Do
the outreaches take all day?
No. Most of the outreaches last 2-3 hours.
What
about weather?
The outreaches are there to meet the needs of the poor and
needy regardless of the climate.
Are
there other opportunities to serve the poor than joining an
outreach?
You bet! There is plenty of need for volunteer help in the
Isaiah 58 office and at the School of Life, where men from
the streets are discipled. Call Pam at 256-2123, ext. 219
for opportunities.
How
does Isaiah 58 work with Belmont cells?
Fantastic. In fact, most of the involvement in the Isaiah
58 outreaches is through cells. Participating in an outreach
as a cell makes it easy for the shy and timid. They can join
in with those who are more outgoing.
Do
you have to be a Belmont member to join an outreach?
No, however, we view our outreaches as a corporate means to
provide members an opportunity to use their gifts and talents
to serve and help others.
