Occupations: Recording artist/ songwriter mainly in Christian music field; former member of group PETRA, 7 solo albums subsequent; 2 Dove, 1 Grammy Award nominations for songwriting (none won; oh well, the food was good…); owner of commercial music production company and recording studio.

Education: B.A. Honors, English Literature, The King’s College, Briarcliff Manor, NY; M.A. Biblical Studies, Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA

Family: Married to Carol since 1980, 3 children: Drew Charles, born 1984, Savannah Noelle, born 1989, William Dillon, born 1991. (One not-very-obedient dog, China.)

Occupation(s): Comm Life Administrator / worship leader / vocalist for [random] projects and events / former: creative administration [yes, it is possible] for a truly anointed Christian music artist, nursing assistant, ropes course instructor [the 50 foot tall kind], barista, conveyor company receptionist, swimming and day camp instructor [I like to mix it up and keep my family guessing]

Education: random college courses / way more ‘hard knocks’ and ‘growing experiences’  than I would have asked for, but pretty much the amount God knew I would need

Family: I love my mom / my golden retriever, who in dog years is like 98 / all my adoptive family – “friends are the family you choose for yourself…”

Hobbies: singing, songwriting, playing the keys, fumbling on the guitar / creating with pretty much any medium [stamps, paper, oil paint, fabric, silly putty] / drinking lattes in the corner of a coffee shop and observing life while listening to understated music / sleeping late and taking a true Sabbath in my pajamas now and then

Likes: mashed potatoes / over-comer, under-dog testimonies / travel [especially to Europe and international- but road trips with fun people are great too] / music [playing and listening] / ice cream / good movies and theater / those perfect 70 degree days / late night conversations with good friends that last longer than anyone planned and later than is appropriate for non-college students / spontaneous fun activities and group games

Dislikes: consistent lack of follow-through / coffee grounds in the last sip of my latte / overscheduled ‘vacations’ / the silent treatment / beets and peas [separate or together]

Family: My best friend & wife Sandy (1999), mightily blessed with two boys, Samuel David, ‘The Sensitive Artist’ (2003) and Paul Barak ‘The Joyful Bruiser’ (2006)  

Hobbies: Collecting old books with crisp yellow pages, cooking without recipes, growing cactus, bird watching, hiking, more books, playing sports, taking my boys for a cruise in our 1960 Ford Pick-up truck, driving ranges & putting greens. I grew up in the Frozen Tundra, long winters and forced inside, so for better or for worse I also happen to be a very polite card player.
 
Likes: Worship,  people, San Diego weather, early mornings, Greenwich Village, autumn, laughter, six inch birdie putts, the beauty of all God’s creation, being somewhere I’ve never been before, God’s undeniable grace and unrelenting love
